TITUS AND RRB SYSTEMS TEAM UP TO PRESENT

Fitness Beyond Welness

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 1, 2008

RRB Systems International and TITUS SPORTS introduce a roll out of the National PROTECTORS course for law enforcement, Corrections, Military, EMS and Firefighter personnel.

Using job task analysis of physical and mental requirements of a avariety of disciplines this program takes occupational fitness beyond wellness.

The PROTECTORS® program is designed for students who wish to become Certified Fitness Trainers and provide fitness instruction to both basic recruit and/or in-service personnel. The techniques taught in this course have been developed based upon a variety of job task analysis that have determined specific core functions of public safety professionals.

Beyond wellness, focuses on specific areas of the body that are compromised as a regular part of job demands. We have crunched the findings into specific categories which indicate where our time and energy should be spent in developing techniques for optimum job performance. Though wellness is always a goal of any fitness program, our PROTECTORS® program strives to go beyond wellness, to provide a comprehensive program to optimize personnel for specific job functions.

Unlike most fitness programs we have identified specific areas of concern to create this complete program for public safety professionals. We have tied together the physical and psychological aspects of job performance to give a complete understanding of how to best prepare for job demands.

This program is not a physical fitness program, akin to the type of coordinated activities one might expect in high school. Nor is it a wellness program, so popular with adults who strive for healthy active lifestyles which promote longevity and overall happiness. Our program is specific to occupational fitness, an area where significant data is available to point to problems we have in the profession. Problems we have identified, and problems we are able to fix.

Why Choose the PROTECTORS Program?

Public Safety is a chosen profession. It is not for everyone. Certain personality types are driven to occupations that are dangerous, unpredictable and challenging. These Type A personalities thrive on excitement and in doing so, regularly submit themselves to challenges beyond the norm. They recognize that their daily activities may have consequences both good and bad.

Like athletes, the thrill of victory is constantly matched against the reality of attrition. Being a good PROTECTOR means that you are first able to protect yourself before you attempt to protect others.

Because public safety is at times unpredictable, people who engage in it must prepare their bodies and minds for the unexpected. They must know that unfavorable things might happen to them and they must be prepared to mitigate sudden problems with pre-event preparation.

Occupational fitness is a long term proposition. It’s not dieting to look good, running to lose weight or avoiding soft drinks to clear up your skin. In fact, whenever you tie fitness to any short term ambition chances are that the novelty will wear off and the old habits will quickly creep back into your lifestyle In the context of athletics, your occupation is a marathon, rather than a sprint. It’s a long term ambition that can last twenty, thirty…forty years or longer! As you ramble down the career path, you can expect that there will be many opportunities to become injured, diseased and possibly killed. Unlike so many other occupations, where simply getting to work is considered the highest level of risk, public safety officials are surrounded by the potential for risky situations all of the time. It is impossible to know when the next bell, whistle or tone will sound, and you will be called upon to exercise your fitness and skill, but it is a certainty that it will happen to you many times during your career. Further, you are going to age as you run this marathon, and the final stretch will likely seem more difficult than when you started. Your fitness abilities are tied to the aging process and you will have to know how to accommodate the changes that will happen in your career as you get older.

Prepare yourself with the professionals who understand what you face.
